Plathiena is a beach in northern Milos, in a bay that is somehow protected by frequent winds. It is very close to Plaka (2km) and you can see it from the big church in the center of the capital. Access is very easy on a narrow street in good condition. In front of this beach, at the sea, is the famous Milky rabbit-like rabbit – a rock that looks like a bear and a rabbit, depending on the angle of view.
The beach is sandy, with shallow water and some low-growing trees in the sand. In the summer there is a small canteen that operates there, providing drinks, but it only works during the high season. Near Plathiena you can visit the small fishing ports Fourkovouni and Areti.
